Hello! I figured we should introduce ourselves and maybe set a goal or plan for this blog, so you can decide if you want to stick around, or if this isn’t your cup of tea. We are a family of five who currently live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. One of the things my husband and I enjoy doing is exploring. For many years we told ourselves we were too busy, had too many other commitments, not enough money, basically any excuse we could find. Annnnd then we had kids. And with children comes even more excuses to not do the things that bring you joy. We have only been at this parenting gig for 8 years now, but something we have learned is that you will always find an excuse not to do something, our time here is limited, and adventuring makes all of us happy (even in the stressful moments). Getting outside and exploring (even if in our own backyard or community) is almost always worth the effort.
In the spring of 2020 when the whole world shut down, we had to get creative with ways to keep our little people busy, and also to get outdoors. Here in Saskatchewan snow starts melting mid-March. This was when our province sent everyone home to isolate. One of the really neat things we witnessed, was seeing everyone walking out and about in our community, instead of watching all the cars rushing about to the activities. We used that time with our family, to walk around our community. Our kids would ask us to go adventuring in the “Creeks” which were just the easements behind our homes that were flooded with water from the Spring melt. But to our kids, it was the most exciting adventure. And to be honest, it was a new and fun way to walk around our community. We also used this time to go on hikes locally in our community. We like to complain in Saskatchewan that there isn’t much to do here on the prairies. We live in such a “flat” place. But if you head a few miles off the number 1 highway, you really can find some cool gems out there.
So, this blog will be a place for us to record some of our adventures. It’s not always going to be perfect, or perfectly timed. That’s the reality of our lives. It’s important to note that we may be smiling in our photos (or not, you never know with kids) but the reality is probably something more along the lines of…it was utter chaos getting everyone out the door, there was too much complaining, not enough snacks or water and this Mama most likely lost her cool more than once, and uttered some four letter words.

So if you want to stick around, we are happy to have your join us on this adventure, and if this isn’t for you no hard feelings. We get it. Choose things that make you happy!
Thanks for stopping by!
